حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا اشْتَرَتْ بَرِيرَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَشْتَرِي بَرِيرَةَ وَأَشْتَرِطُ لَهُمْ الْوَلَاءَ ، قَالَ : " اشْتَرِي ، فَإِنَّمَا الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ وَلِيَ النِّعْمَةَ ، أَوْ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! Should I free Barirah and make the right of wala (inheritance) conditional for her owners?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You buy her and set her free, because the right of wala, that is, the inheritance of the slave, belongs only to the one who sets the slave free."
