حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ، عَنْ صَدَقَةَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جُمَيْعُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ أَحَدُ بَنِي تَيْمِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ مَعَ أُمِّي وَخَالَتِي عَلَى عَائِشَةَ ، فَسَأَلَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا : كَيْفَ كُنْتُنَّ تَصْنَعْنَ عِنْدَ الْغُسْلِ ؟ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ ، ثُمَّ يُفِيضُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، وَنَحْنُ نُفِيضُ عَلَى رُءُوسِنَا خَمْسًا مِنْ أَجْلِ الضَّفْرِ " .
Jami’ bin Umair, who belonged to Banu Taymullah bin Tha’labah, says that once I went to the house of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) with my mother and maternal aunt. One of them asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) what the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to do during ghusl (ritual bath)? She replied that the Prophet (peace be upon him) would first perform ablution as for prayer, then pour water over his head three times, and we, because of our braids, would pour water over our heads five times.
