Hadith 25546

Abdullah bin Abi Qais says that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the two rak'ahs after Asr, so she replied that in fact the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer two rak'ahs after Zuhr. One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became occupied with some work until the time for Asr arrived. After offering the Asr prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed these two rak'ahs in my house, and then until the end (of his life), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never abandoned them. Abdullah says that then I asked the same question to Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), so he replied that at first we used to offer this prayer, but later we abandoned it.
