Amr bin Ghalib narrates that once Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Ash’ath, “Are you the one who tried to kill my nephew?” Ash’ath replied, “Yes! I had intended to do so.” She said, “Do you not know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘It is not permissible to shed the blood of a Muslim except for one of three reasons: committing adultery after being married, becoming a disbeliever after accepting Islam, or killing a person for which he is killed in retaliation.’”
