حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مِينَاءَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَتْنِي خَالَتِي عَائِشَةُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهَا : " لَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِشِرْكٍ أَوْ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ ، لَهَدَمْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ ، فَأَلْزَقْتُهَا بِالْأَرْضِ ، وَجَعَلْتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ ، بَابًا شَرْقِيًّا وَبَابًا غَرْبِيًّا ، وَزِدْتُ فِيهَا مِنَ الْحَجَرِ سِتَّةَ أَذْرُعٍ ، فَإِنَّ قُرِيْشًا اقْتَصَرَتْهَا حِينَ بَنَتْ الْكَعْبَةَ " .
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If your people had not recently abandoned the Age of Ignorance, I would have demolished the Ka'bah and brought it down to the level of the ground, and I would have made two doors for it—one for entering and one for exiting—and I would have included six cubits of land from the side of Hatim into the House of Allah, because the Quraysh had reduced it when they rebuilt the Ka'bah.
