It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that three cases regarding Barirah came before us: she was freed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her the choice to remain in the marriage or not, and she chose for herself (ended her marriage with her husband). Also, people used to give her something as charity, and she would give us some of it as a gift. I mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is charity for her, and for us it is a gift, so you may eat it."
