Hadith 25448

قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ ، " أَنَّهَا لَمْ تَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ اللَّيْلِ قَاعِدًا حَتَّى أَسَنَّ ، فَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ قَاعِدًا ، حَتَّى إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ ، قَامَ فَقَرَأَ نَحْوًا مِنْ ثَلَاثِينَ أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ آيَةً ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the blessed body of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became heavy, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform the prayer sitting, as much as Allah willed, and when thirty or forty verses of the surah remained, he would stand up, recite them, and then go into bowing (ruku).
