Shurayh al-Harithī (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) rode a she-camel on which no one had ever ridden before. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "ʿĀʾishah! Fear Allah and make gentleness obligatory upon yourself, for gentleness, whenever it is in something, makes it beautiful, and whenever it is removed from something, makes it ugly and defective."
