Hadith 25378

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ . وَبَهْزٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : مُرُوا أَزْوَاجَكُنَّ ، أَنْ يَغْسِلُوا عَنْهُمْ أَثَرَ الْغَائِطِ وَالْبَوْلِ ، فَإِنِّي أَسْتَحْيِيهِمْ ، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ . قَالَ بَهْزٌ : مُرْنَ أَزْوَاجَكُنَّ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that some women from Basra came to her, so she instructed them to perform istinja (cleaning after relieving oneself) with water and said, "Instruct your husbands to do the same. We ourselves feel shy to say this openly, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform istinja with water."
