Hadith 25372

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that on the day of the Battle of Badr, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by those people—meaning ‘Uqbah, Abu Jahl, and others—who had been thrown into the well, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood by them and said, "May Allah give you the worst recompense from the side of the Prophet’s people. How badly these people drove away and how severely they denied." The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Are you speaking to those people who have died?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You do not understand my words any better than they do."
