حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَعَرَفْتُ فِي وَجْهِهِ أَنْ قَدْ حَفَزَهُ شَيْءٌ ، فَتَوَضَّأَ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَلَمْ يُكَلِّمْ أَحَدًا ، فَدَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْحُجُرَاتِ ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، يَقُولُ : " مُرُوا بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ، وَانْهَوْا عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَدْعُونِي فَلَا أُجِيبُكُمْ ، وَتَسْأَلُونِي فَلَا أُعْطِيكُمْ ، وَتَسْتَنْصِرُونِي ، فَلَا أَنْصُرُكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me, and I sensed from the face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that there was some distress in his mood. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and left without speaking to anyone. I went near the chambers and listened, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: O people! Allah Almighty says: Enjoin good and forbid evil before the time comes when you call upon Me and I do not accept your prayers, you ask of Me and I do not grant you anything, and you seek help from Me and I do not help you.
