حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ السُّدِّيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَهِيِّ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ ؟ قَالَ : " الْقَرْنُ الَّذِينَ أَنَا فِيهِ ، ثُمَّ الثَّانِي ، ثُمَّ الثَّالِثُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "Who is the best of people?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "The era in which I am, then the next, and then the third."
