حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ تُبَايِعُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخَذَ عَلَيْهَا : أَنْ لا يُشْرِكْنَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا وَلا يَسْرِقْنَ وَلا يَزْنِينَ سورة الممتحنة آية 12 الْآيَةَ ، قَالَتْ : فَوَضَعَتْ يَدَهَا عَلَى رَأْسِهَا حَيَاءً ، فَأَعْجَبَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا رَأَى مِنْهَا ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : " أَقِرِّي أَيَّتُهَا الْمَرْأَةُ ، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا بَايَعَنَا إِلَّا عَلَى هَذَا ، قَالَتْ : فَنَعَمْ إِذًا ، فَبَايَعَهَا بِالْآيَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once Fatimah bint Utbah bin Rabi’ah came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pledge allegiance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to take her pledge on the conditions of the verse of allegiance. At this, Fatimah, out of modesty, placed her hand on her head. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was surprised at her action. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "O lady! Be at ease. By Allah, we also pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on these same conditions." So Fatimah said, "Then it is fine," and she pledged allegiance on the conditions of that verse.
