It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the other noble wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She sought permission to enter the house of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who at that time was with Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) under her sheet. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) permission to enter. She came in and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Your noble wives have sent me to you; they request justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Beloved daughter! Will you not love whom I love?" She replied, "Why not?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Then love her as well." Upon hearing this, Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) stood up and left, and informed the noble wives of the conversation that took place between her and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Upon hearing this, they said, "You could not accomplish anything for us. Go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again." Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "By Allah, I will not speak to him about this matter again." Then the noble wives sent Hazrat Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her). She sought permission, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted her permission as well. When she entered, she also said, "O Messenger of Allah! Your noble wives have sent me to you; they request justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah." Hazrat Aisha says that after this, she (Zainab) began to attack me (with taunts). I kept looking at the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to see if he would permit me to respond. When I realized that if I responded to her, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not mind, then I began to reply to Zainab, and I did not leave her until I silenced her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept smiling during this, then said, "She is also the daughter of Abu Bakr." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says, "I have not seen any woman better than Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), more charitable, more devoted to maintaining family ties, and more absorbed in worshipping Allah. However, the sharpness between co-wives is a separate matter, in which she came close to being equal."
