حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَرَوْحٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ ، عن أبيه . وقال روح : قال : أخبرني أشعت بن سليم ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ : أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَتْ : الدَّائِمُ . قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ : قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ : فَقُلْتُ : فَأَيُّ حِينٍ كَانَ يَقُومُ ؟ قَالَتْ : " إِذَا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ " .
Masruq says that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Which deed was the most beloved to the Prophet (peace be upon him)?" She replied, "That which is done consistently." I asked, "At what time would the Prophet (peace be upon him) stand (for prayer)?" She replied, "When he heard the crowing of the rooster."
