It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse of the Holy Qur'an: "Allah is He Who has sent down to you the Book; in it are verses that are clear, they are the foundation of the Book, and others are ambiguous. As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow what is ambiguous..." And he said: When you see those who argue about the Qur'anic verses, they are the ones whom Allah has meant, so beware of them.
