حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ حَدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " لَمْ يَكُنْ يَصُومُ مِنْ شَهْرٍ مِنَ السَّنَةِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَصُومُ شَعْبَانَ كُلَّهُ " . وَكَانَ يَقُولُ : " خُذُوا مِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا يَمَلُّ حَتَّى تَمَلُّوا ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ أَحَبُّ الصَّلَاةِ إِلَيْهِ مَا دَاوَمَ عَلَيْهَا ، وَإِنْ قَلَّ " . وَكَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى صَلَاةً يُدَاوِمُ عَلَيْهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not fast in any month of the year more than he did in Sha'ban; he would fast almost the entire month of Sha'ban, and he used to say: "Do as much of deeds as you are able, for Allah will not get tired, but you will surely get tired." And the most beloved prayer to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was that which was performed regularly, even if it was little in amount. And whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a prayer, he would make it a regular practice.
