حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُهْدِيَ إِلَيْهِ ضَبٌّ ، فَلَمْ يَأْكُلْهُ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلَا أُطْعِمُهُ الْمَسَاكِينَ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تُطْعِمُوهُمْ مِمَّا لَا تَأْكُلُونَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha that once a monitor lizard was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) neither ate it nor forbade it. I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Should we not feed this to the poor?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Do not feed them what you do not eat yourselves."
