حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنِيهِ مَكْحُولٌ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا اسْتُحِلَّ بِهِ فَرْجُ الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ مَهْرٍ أَوْ عِدَّةٍ ، فَهُوَ لَهَا ، وَمَا أُكْرِمَ بِهِ أَبُوهَا أَوْ أَخُوهَا أَوْ وَلِيُّهَا بَعْدَ عُقْدَةِ النِّكَاحِ فَهُوَ لَهُ ، وَأَحَقُّ مَا أُكْرِمَ بِهِ الرَّجُلُ ابْنَتُهُ وَأُخْتُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whatever a man uses to make a woman's private parts lawful for himself, such as a dowry or any other item, it becomes the property of that woman. And whatever is given as a gesture of honor to the woman's father, brother, or guardian after the marriage contract, it belongs to them. And a man's daughter or sister is more deserving that, because of her, the man should be honored.
