Hadith 249

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ : أَنَّ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ أَنْ تَهْلِكُوا عَنْ آيَةِ الرَّجْمِ ، وَأَنْ يَقُولَ قَائِلٌ : لَا نَجِدُ حَدَّيْنِ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ، فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَدْ رَجَمَ ، وَقَدْ رَجَمْنَا " .
Sayyiduna Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I heard Sayyiduna 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "Save yourselves from destruction regarding the verse of Rajm (stoning), lest someone says that we do not find mention of two punishments in the Book of Allah. I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) carrying out the punishment of Rajm, and we ourselves have also carried out this punishment."
