حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، وَعَلِيٌّ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مُبَارَكٍ ، قالَ عَلِيٌّ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ مُبَارَكٍ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ : أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا أَرَادَ سَفَرًا أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَ نِسَائِهِ ، فَأَيَّتُهُنَّ خَرَجَ سَهْمُهَا ، خَرَجَ بِهَا مَعَهُ ، وَكَانَ يَقْسِمُ لِكُلِّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ يَوْمَهَا وَلَيْلَتَهَا ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ كَانَتْ وَهَبَتْ يَوْمَهَا وَلَيْلَتَهَا لِعَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، تَبْتَغِي بِذَلِكَ رِضَا النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to travel, he would draw lots among his noble wives, and the one whose name was drawn would accompany him on the journey. He would give each wife her turn during the day and night. However, Hazrat Sawda bint Zam'a gifted her day and night turn to Hazrat Aisha, with the intention of seeking the pleasure of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
