حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ ، فَقَالَ : " عَلَيْكُمْ " . فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : عَلَيْكُمْ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَلَعْنَةُ اللَّاعِنِينَ ، قَالُوا : مَا كَانَ أَبُوكِ فَحَّاشًا ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجُوا ، قَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا حَمَلَكِ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتِ ؟ " قَالَتْ : أَمَا سَمِعْتَ مَا قَالُوا ؟ قَالَ : " فَمَا رَأَيْتِينِي قُلْتُ : عَلَيْكُمْ ، إِنَّهُ يُصِيبُهُمْ مَا أَقُولُ لَهُمْ ، وَلَا يُصِيبُنِي مَا قَالُوا لِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once some Jews sought permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to enter the house and said, "As-Saam Alaik" (which means: death be upon you). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Alaikum" (upon you). Hearing this, Hazrat Aisha said, "May the curse of Allah and of those who curse be upon you." Upon this, the Jews said, "Your father did not speak in this manner." When they left, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her, "Why did you do that?" She replied, "Did you not hear what they said?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I have replied to them. 'Wa Alaikum' (and upon you). What I say will reach them, but what they say will not reach me."
