حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا صَلَّى قَائِمًا ، رَكَعَ قَائِمًا ، وَإِذَا صَلَّى قَاعِدًا ، رَكَعَ قَاعِدًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha that in the night prayer, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would stand for a long time and would also sit for quite a while. The Prophet (peace be upon him) would recite, bow, and prostrate while standing, and he would also recite, bow, and prostrate while sitting.
