It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha that when the verse of choice (Ayat Takhyir) was revealed, the Prophet (peace be upon him) first called me and said, "O Aisha! I want to mention something before you; do not make any decision in this matter without consulting your parents." I asked, "What is it?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) called me and recited this verse: "O Prophet (peace be upon him), say to your wives: If you desire Allah and His Messenger and the Hereafter..." I said, "I choose Allah and His Messenger." Upon this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) became very happy.
