حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : رُمِيتُ بِمَا رُمِيتُ بِهِ وَأَنَا غَافِلَةٌ ، فَبَلَغَنِي بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ رَضْخٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَبَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدِي ، إِذْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْهِ ، وَكَانَ إِذَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْهِ ، يَأْخُذُهُ شِبْهُ السُّبَاتِ ، فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ عِنْدِي إِذْ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ الْوَحْيُ ، فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَهُوَ يَمْسَحُ عَنْ جَبِينِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَبْشِرِي يَا عَائِشَةُ " فَقُلْتُ : بِحَمْدِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا بِحَمْدِكَ ، فَقَرَأَ : الَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ الْمُحْصَنَاتِ حَتَّى بَلَغَ مُبَرَّءُونَ مِمَّا يَقُولُونَ سورة النور آية 4 - 26 .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when I was accused, I was unaware of it; after some time I came to know about it. One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting with me when revelation began to descend upon him. At the time of the descent of revelation, a state like drowsiness would come over the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). In any case, after the revelation, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head and began to wipe the sweat from his forehead and said, "Aisha! Receive glad tidings." I said, "Thanks be to Allah, not to you." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited these verses: "Those who accuse chaste women..." until he reached "...they are absolved of what they say."
