حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الضُّحَى ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " لَمَّا أُنْزِلَتْ الْآيَاتُ الْأَوَاخِرُ مِنْ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ ، خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَرَأَهُنَّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَحَرَّمَ التِّجَارَةَ فِي الْخَمْرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha that when the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah "which are related to usury" were revealed, the Prophet (peace be upon him) proceeded towards the mosque, recited them, and also declared the trade of alcohol to be forbidden.
