حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ بُدَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ شَاكِيًا بِفَارِسَ ، فَكُنْتُ أُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا ، فَسَأَلْتُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ عَائِشَةَ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا قَائِمًا ، وَلَيْلًا طَوِيلًا قَاعِدًا ، فَإِذَا قَرَأَ قَائِمًا رَكَعَ ، أَوْ خَشَعَ ، قَائِمًا ، وَإِذَا قَرَأَ قَاعِدًا رَكَعَ قَاعِدًا " .
Abdullah bin Shaqiq reports: I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the voluntary prayers of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at night. She replied: In the night prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand for a long time and sit for quite a while. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would also recite, bow, and prostrate while standing.
