حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ " كَانَ مُعْتَكِفًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَتَجِيءُ عَائِشَةُ ، فَيُخْرِجُ رَأْسَهُ ، فَتُرَجِّلُهُ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would observe i'tikaf and would extend his head out from the mosque, and I would comb it while I was menstruating.
