حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْتِينِي وَهُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى يَتَّكِئَ عَلَى بَابِ حُجْرَتِي فَأَغْسِلُ رَأْسَهُ وَأَنَا فِي حُجْرَتِي وَسَائِرُ جَسَدِهِ فِي الْمَسْجِدَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to observe i'tikaf and would extend his head out from the mosque, and I would wash it while I was in my room, and the entire body of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would be inside the mosque.
