It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that once during the Prophethood, there was a solar eclipse. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the prayer place and began to pray, standing for a long time, then he bowed and made a long bowing, then before going into prostration, he raised his head and stood for a long time, though this standing was shorter than the first. Then he prostrated, then stood up for the second rak'ah and did the same as he had done in the first rak'ah, but in this rak'ah, the first standing was longer than the second, and the first bowing was longer than the second. In this way, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the prayer while the solar eclipse had ended. Then he said: The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because of anyone's life or death. Therefore, when this happens, immediately turn towards prayer.
