حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : لَمَّا جَاءَ نَعْيُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، وَزَيْدِ ابْنِ حَارِثَةَ ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَوَاحَةَ ، جَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْرَفُ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْحُزْنُ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَأَنَا أَطَّلِعُ مِنْ شَقِّ الْبَابِ ، فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ نِسَاءَ جَعْفَرٍ ، فَذَكَرَ مِنْ بُكَائِهِنَّ ، فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَنْهَاهُنَّ ، فَذَهَبَ الرَّجُلُ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ ، فَقَالَ : قَدْ نَهَيْتُهُنَّ ، وَإِنَّهُنَّ لَمْ يُطِعْنَهُ ، حَتَّى كَانَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ ، فَزَعَمْتُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " احْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِنَّ التُّرَابَ " ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : قُلْتُ : أَرْغَمَ اللَّهُ بِأَنْفِكَ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا أَنْتَ بِفَاعِلٍ مَا قَالَ لَكَ ، وَلَا تَرَكْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ! .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the news of the martyrdom of Hazrat Zaid bin Harithah and Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with them) came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down on the ground and signs of grief were visible on his blessed face. I was peeking through a hole in the door when a man came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! The women of Ja'far are weeping." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him, "Forbid them." The man went and after a short while returned and said, "I have forbidden them but they do not listen to me." This happened three times. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Go and fill their mouths with dust." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to him, "May Allah fill your face with dust! By Allah, neither do you do what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commands you, nor do you leave them alone."
