It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the Battle of the Trench and took off his armor to bathe, Hazrat Jibreel appeared in such a state that there was dust on his head and said, "Have you put down your weapons? By Allah, I have not yet put down my weapons. You should proceed towards them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Towards whom?" He pointed towards Banu Qurayza and said, "Here." Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out, and those people became ready to come down from their forts on the decision of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entrusted their decision to Hazrat Sa'd bin Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him). He said, "I decide that their fighting men be killed, their women and children be taken captive, and their wealth and property be distributed."
