Hadith 2427

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from the plain of Arafah, he seated Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) behind him and said: "Go with calmness; speeding up horses and mounts is not a virtue." Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that after that, I did not see any mount stretching out its hand (i.e., running fast) until we reached Muzdalifah. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) behind him from Muzdalifah to Mina and began to say: "O people! Walk with calmness and dignity, for speeding up horses and camels is not a virtue." After that, I did not see any mount running swiftly until we reached Mina.
