Hadith 24259

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought a prisoner to my place. I got busy with the women and became heedless, and the prisoner ran away. After a short while, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned and asked, "Where is the prisoner?" I replied, "I was busy with the women and became heedless, and during that time he ran away." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "May your hands be broken! What have you done?" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went outside and announced among the people about the prisoner. People went out in search of him and brought him back. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me, and I was turning my hands over and looking at them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "What has happened to you? Have you gone mad?" I replied, "You had cursed me, so I am turning my hands over and looking to see which of them will break." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands for supplication, and after praising and glorifying Allah, he said, "O Allah! I am also a human being, and like other human beings, I also get angry. So, for any believing man or woman whom I have cursed, make it a means of purification and cleansing for them."
