It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the details of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) ritual bath (ghusl) after impurity are as follows: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would first wash both his hands, then perform ablution (wudu) as for prayer, then run his fingers through the roots of his hair, and when he was sure that his hand had reached the skin, he would pour water three times, then pour water over the rest of his body.
