It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) on any of his family members, he would pass his right hand over them and recite this supplication: "O Lord of the people! Remove this pain. Grant him/her healing, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing. Grant such a healing that leaves no trace of illness." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was afflicted with his final illness, I would hold his blessed hand and recite these words, then pass the Prophet’s hand over his body. I continued doing this until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) withdrew his hand from mine and said, "O Lord! Forgive me and join me with the Highest Companion." This was the last statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that I heard.
