Hadith 24122

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كُفِّنَ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ سُحُولِيَّةٍ بِيضٍ " ، وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : فِي أَيِّ شَيْءٍ كُفِّنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قُلْتُ : " فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ " ، قَالَ : " كَفِّنُونِي فِي ثَوْبَيَّ هَذَيْنِ ، وَاشْتَرُوا ثَوْبًا آخَرَ ".
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was buried in three white Sahuli garments. Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him), during his illness of death, asked me, "In how many garments was the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) shrouded?" I replied, "In three garments." He said, "Shroud me also in these two garments and buy a third garment."
