Ubaidullah says that once we presented ourselves before Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and requested, "O Mother of the Believers! Tell us about the illness of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of his passing." She replied, "When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell ill, he began to have difficulty breathing. We likened his breathing to that of a person who eats raisins. The Prophet's habit was to visit the pure wives. When the illness intensified, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sought permission from his wives to spend the days of his illness in my house, and all of them granted permission. Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left from there supported by Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and another man. At that time, the blessed feet of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were dragging on the ground." Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked Ubaidullah, "Did Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) not tell you who the other man was?" He replied, "No." So Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "He was Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)."
