حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : لَمَّا مَرِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَ نِسَاءَهُ أَنْ يُمَرَّضَ فِي بَيْتِي ، فَأَذِنَّ لَهُ ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُعْتَمِدًا عَلَى الْعَبَّاسِ وَعَلَى رَجُلٍ آخَرَ ، وَرِجْلَاهُ تَخُطَّانِ فِي الْأَرْضِ ، وَقَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ : فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاس : أَتَدْرِي مَنْ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ ؟ هُوَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، وَلَكِنَّ عَائِشَةَ لَا تَطِيبُ لَهَا نَفْسًا ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَمْعَةَ : " مُرْ النَّاسَ فَلْيُصَلُّوا " فَلَقِيَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا عُمَرُ ، صَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ ، فَسَمِعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَوْتَهُ فَعَرَفَهُ ، وَكَانَ جَهِيرَ الصَّوْتِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلَيْسَ هَذَا صَوْتَ عُمَرَ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : بَلَى ، قَالَ : " يَأْبَى اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَزَّ ذَلِكَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ ، مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ " ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَجُلٌ رَقِيقٌ لَا يَمْلِكُ دَمْعَهُ ، وَإِنَّهُ إِذَا قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ بَكَى ، قَالَتْ : وَمَا قُلْتِ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَتَشاءم النَّاسُ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ قَامَ مَقَامَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ " ، فَرَاجَعَتْهُ ، فَقَالَ : " مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ ، إِنَّكُنَّ صَوَاحِبُ يُوسُفَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the illness of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began in the house of Hazrat Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sought permission from his pure wives to spend the days of his illness in my house, and all of them granted permission. Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left from there supported by Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and another man (according to the narrator, he was Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), but Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) did not consider it necessary to mention his name). At that time, the blessed feet of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were dragging on the ground as he walked. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had already told Hazrat Abdullah bin Zam’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) in the house of Hazrat Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) to tell the people to perform the prayer. Abdullah was returning when he met Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) on the way. He told Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), "O Umar! Lead the people in prayer." So he began to lead the prayer. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the voice of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he immediately recognized it because his voice was loud. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Is this not Umar's voice?" The people replied, "Yes, it is." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allah and the believers do not accept this. Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Abu Bakr is a soft-hearted man; he will not be able to control his tears, because whenever Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) recited the Holy Qur'an, he would begin to weep." And I only said this so that people would not start saying about Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was the first man to stand in the place of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and thus become sinful. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." When I repeated my request, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the same command and said, "You are like the women who were infatuated with Yusuf (peace be upon him) (who concealed something in their hearts and expressed something else with their tongues)."
