Hadith 24023

حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا مُغِيرَةُ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اسْتَرَاثَ الْخَبَرَ ، تَمَثَّلَ فِيهِ بِبَيْتِ طَرَفَةَ ، وَيَأْتِيكَ بِالْأَخْبَارِ مَنْ لَمْ تُزَوِّدِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was waiting for some news and it was delayed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite this verse of Tarafah on such an occasion: "The person will bring you news whom you did not provide provisions for the journey."
