Hadith 24017

حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي حُرَّةَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يُصَلِّي افْتَتَحَ صَلَاتَهُ بِرَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would wake up at night to perform prayer, he would begin the prayer with two light rak'ahs.
