Musnad Ahmad — Hadith 24009/60
حدثنا عبدُ الرزاق ، أَخبرنا مالكٌ ، عن أَبي النَّضر ، عن بُسْر ابن سعيد ، قال : أرسَلَني زيدُ بن خالدٍ إلى أَبي جُهَيم الأَنصاريِّ أَسأَلُه : ما سمعت من رسول الله صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَّيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يقولُ فيمن يَمُرُّ بين يَدَيِ المُصلِّي ؟ قال : سمعتُه يقول : " لأَن يَقُومَ في مقَامِه ، خيرٌ له من أَن يَمُرَّ بين يَديَ المُصلِّي " ، فلا أَدْري ، قال : أَربعينَ سنةً ، أو أربعين شهرًا ، أو أربعينَ يومًا !
Narrated to us by ʿAbd al-Razzaq, informed us Malik, from Abu al-Nadr, from Busr ibn Saʿid, who said: Zayd ibn Khalid sent me to Abu Juhaim al-Ansari to ask him: What have you heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding one who passes in front of a person praying? He said: I heard him say: "For him to stand in his place is better for him than to pass in front of the one who is praying." I do not know whether he said: forty years, or forty months, or forty days!
