Musnad Ahmad — Hadith 24009/31
حدثنا يونسُ بن محمدٍ ، حدثنا أيُّوبُ ، عن قَيْسٍ ، عن أَبيه ، قال : جِئْتُ إِلى النبيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَّيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وأَصحابُه يَبْنُونَ المسجدَ ، قال : فكأَنه لم يُعجِبْه عَمَلُهم ، قال : فأَخَذْتُ المِسْحاةَ ، فخَلَطْتُ بها الطِّينَ ، فكأَنه أَعجَبَه أَخْذِي المِسْحاةَ وعَمَلي ، فقال : " دَعُوا الحَنَفيَّ والطِّينَ ، فإِنه أَضْبطُكم للطِّينِ "
Yunus ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Ayub narrated to us, from Qays, from his father, who said: I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, while his companions were building the mosque. It was as if their work did not please him. So I took the mattock and mixed the clay with it. It was as if my taking the mattock and my work pleased him, so he said: "Leave the Hanafi and the clay, for he is the best among you at handling the clay."
