Musnad Ahmad — Hadith 24009/22
حدثنا أَبو النَّضْر ، حدثنا أَيُّوب ، حدثني قيسُ بن طَلْقٍ ، عن أَبيه ، قال : جاءَ رجلُ إِلى النبيّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَّيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بعدَ الظُّهرِ ، فقال : يا نبيَّ الله ، يُصَلِّي أَحدُنا في الثَّوب الواحدِ ؟ قال : فسَكَتَ ، حتي إِذا حَضَرت العصرُ ، حَلَّ إَزارَه ، ثم تَوشَّحَ بهما على مَنْكِبَيهِ ، فلما قَضَى الصَّلاةَ صلاةَ العصر وانصرفَ ، قال : " أين ؟ " يعني أَين هذا السائلُ عن الصلاةِ في الثَّوب الواحدِ ؟ فقال رجل : أَنا يا نبيَّ الله ، فقال : " أَكلُّ الناس يَجِدُ ثَوْبَينِ ؟ ! "
Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, Ayub narrated to us, Qays ibn Talq narrated to me, from his father, who said: A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, after the noon (Dhuhr) prayer, and said: O Prophet of Allah, may one of us pray in a single garment? He remained silent, until when the afternoon (‘Asr) prayer arrived, he loosened his waist-wrapper, then draped both of them over his shoulders. When he finished the prayer, the ‘Asr prayer, and turned away, he said: "Where is he?" meaning, where is the one who asked about praying in a single garment? A man said: I am, O Prophet of Allah. He said: "Does everyone find two garments?!"
