Hadith 24004

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا أَتَاهُ الْفَيْءُ قَسَمَهُ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ ، فَأَعْطَى الْآهِلَ حَظَّيْنِ ، وَأَعْطَى الْعَزَبَ حَظًّا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever spoils of war would come to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he would distribute them on the same day. He would give two shares to a married man and one share to an unmarried man.
