حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا النَّهَّاسُ ، عَنْ شَدَّادٍ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ ، قَالَ : يَا طَاعُونُ ، خُذْنِي إِلَيْكَ ، قَالُوا : لِمَ تَقُولُ هَذَا ؟ ! أَلَيْسَ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَا يَزِيدُهُ طُولُ الْعُمُرِ إِلَّا خَيْرًا " ، قَالَ : بَلَى ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ وَكِيعٍ.
Shaddad Abu Ammar reports that once Hazrat Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O plague! Take hold of me." The people asked, "Did you hear the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say that however much life a Muslim is granted, it is better for him?" He replied, "Why not..." Then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith.
