Hadith 2392

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once set out on a journey, and appointed Sayyiduna Abu Ruhm Kulthum bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) as his deputy in Madinah Munawwarah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed on the tenth of Ramadan, and he himself was fasting, as were the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). When they reached a place called Kudayd—which is a water place between Usfan and Amj—the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) broke his fast. Then he continued on until he reached Marr az-Zahran and camped there. At that time, there were ten thousand Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
