حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ أَبِي خِدَاشٍ ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ ، " اقْتُلْ كُلَّ كَلْبٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ " ، قَالَ : فَوَجَدْتُ نِسْوَةً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بِالصَّوْرَيْنِ مِنَ الْبَقِيعِ لَهُنَّ كَلْبٌ ، فَقُلْنَ : يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ ، إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أَغْزَى رِجَالَنَا ، وَإِنَّ هَذَا الْكَلْبَ يَمْنَعُنَا بَعْدَ اللَّهِ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنَا حَتَّى تَقُومَ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَّا فَتَحُولَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ ، فَاذْكُرْهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَهُ أَبُو رَافِعٍ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ ، " اقْتُلْهُ ، فَإِنَّمَا يَمْنَعُهُنَّ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me, “O Abu Rafi’! Kill all the dogs found in Madinah.” He says that I saw some Ansari women in Jannat al-Baqi’ who had some trees, and those women also had dogs with them. They said, “O Abu Rafi’! The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent our men for jihad. After Allah, now only these dogs protect us, and by Allah, no one dares to come near us. Even when any one of us women gets up, these dogs become a barrier between her and the people. Therefore, mention this matter to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).” So he mentioned this matter to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Abu Rafi’! You kill them; Allah Himself will protect the women.”
