حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أخبر مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ ، وَذَكَرَ بِنَاءَ الْكَعْبَةِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، قَالَ : " فَهَدَمَتْهَا قُرَيْشٌ ، وَجَعَلُوا يَبْنُونَهَا بِحِجَارَةِ الْوَادِي تَحْمِلُهَا قُرَيْشٌ عَلَى رِقَابِهَا ، فَرَفَعُوهَا فِي السَّمَاءِ عِشْرِينَ ذِرَاعًا ، فَبَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْمِلُ حِجَارَةً مِنْ أَجْيَادٍ وَعَلَيْهِ نَمِرَةٌ ، فَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِ النَّمِرَةُ ، فَذَهَبَ يَضَعُ النَّمِرَةَ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ ، فَيُرَى عَوْرَتُهُ مِنْ صِغَرِ النَّمِرَةِ ، فَنُودِيَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، خَمِّرْ عَوْرَتَكَ ، فَلَمْ يُرَى عُرْيَانًا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) (mentioning the construction of the Ka'bah in the time of ignorance) that when the construction of the House of Allah began (the Quraysh first completely demolished it and started its construction with stones from the valley), people were bringing stones, among whom was also the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). (The Quraysh had kept it twenty cubits long.) The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a woolen sheet, but during the lifting of the stones, it became difficult to manage it, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed that sheet on his shoulder. At that time, someone called out, "Cover your private parts," so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw down the stone and wrapped himself in his sheet. Peace and blessings be upon him.
