حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي زَكَرِيَّا الْخُزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ الْخَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنَ السِّمْطِ ، وَهُوَ مُرَابِطٌ عَلَى السَّاحِلِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ رَابَطَ يَوْمًا أَوْ لَيْلَةً كَانَ لَهُ كَصِيَامِ شَهْرٍ لِلْقَاعِدِ ، وَمَنْ مَاتَ مُرَابِطًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، أَجْرَى اللَّهُ لَهُ أَجْرَهُ وَالَّذِي كَانَ يَعْمَلُ أَجْرَ صَلَاتِهِ وَصِيَامِهِ وَنَفَقَتِهِ ، وَوُقِيَ مِنْ فَتَّانِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَأَمِنَ مِنَ الْفَزَعِ الْأَكْبَرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Salman Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him), who was appointed as a guard over Shurahbil bin Simt, that he said: I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that whoever guards the borders for one day or one night, it is as if someone fasted for a month while waiting for his turn. And whoever dies while guarding the borders in the way of Allah, Allah continues his reward and also the reward of the deeds he used to do, such as prayer, fasting, and spending in the way of Allah, and he will be protected from the trial of the grave and will be safe from the great terror.
